Reactions from Across the United States

Map.png

The story of Norlina's race riot and lynchings quickly spread across the United States. This map shows how many states had newspapers that printed articles about the event. States shaded in red represent the ones that did mention the violence and the states in grey represent the ones that no articles have been discovered in. Although each journalist is telling the same tale, the language used varies greatly which can provide insight into his or her sympathies.
